Fastladderかなりいいかげんガイド（仮）

フィードリーダーはLDRことlivedoor Readerを使っています。非常に便利。
で、LDRの英語版であるFastladderが7/3にリリースされ、基本的にはLDRと同じだし、こっちは広告もまだないし、という事でFastladderに乗り換えようかな、なんて考えているのです。

もちろん、livedoorの中の人は、（おそらく）Fastladderがそんな使われ方をされる事を望んでいるのではなく、英語が母語の世界中の人々にバリバリと使ってもらいたいんだろうけど、にしてはFastladderにはQuick Guideしかないようで、これだけでは英語圏の人に「Fastladderがいかに便利か」が伝わり辛いだろうなぁ、と思うのです。
もちろん、こんな事はあちこちで既に言われているのですが。

そんな中、livedoor Readerディレクターblogに「livedoor Readerパーフェクトガイド」なる記事が上がっており、これがよくまとまってる気がするんだな。

この記事の英語版がFastladder付いていれば、英語圏の人にとって非常に便利ではなかろうか。

普段なら「あればいいのに。」と言いっ放しで終わるし、私はあくまでもPCのユーザーであって開発の中の人ではないし、英語だって辞書引きながらならなんとか読めるけど、話したり書いたりするのは苦手だし云々。

ただ、今日はちょっと嬉しい事があって、そのついでにどれくらいできるものか英訳してみようと思ったのです。
結局は己の能力不足と時間の問題等で、かな〜り適当な文章が途中までできた現時点で一旦辞めます。

とりあえずそれっぽい単語を並べたので、多分「英語が不得手な日本人」を相手にした事のある英語圏の人だったら、慈悲の心でなんとなく大意を掴んでくれるんじゃねーかな、とは思いますが、実際はどうですかね。身近に「英語圏の人」がいれば、添削してもらったりできて、そーゆーのって楽しそうとは思うのですが、なかなか思うようにはいかんものです。

以下は、livedoor Readerディレクターblog中の「livedoor Readerパーフェクトガイド」の「livedoor Reader」を「Fastladder」に置き換えたら、こんな英文になるのかなって個人メモです。未完成。
前口上は割愛。「1. 最新版の『Firefox』をダウンロード」から始まってます。

修正等のご意見を頂けると非常に嬉しいが、「商品稼ぎ」目的以外のダイアリーを書くのは初めてだし、あまり人目につく事はないでしょう。

1.Download the latest version's "Firefox".

They might say "Safari" or "Internet Explorer 7" are faster, however, we recommend to use "Firefox" because of detailed settings and easy customization.(at present2007/07)
Whatever you use the browsers mainly, at first download "Firefox".


2.Install the Firefox's add-on "Tab Mix Plus"

"Tab Mix Plus" is a add-on with that you can set detailed settings about Firefox's Tab.
You should install this to use the "Pin" function.
The "Pin" function is explained later.


3.Register the Fastladder

At first you must register the Fastladder ID.
All you need is only your e-mail address.


4.Import the feeds by OPML

"Fastladder" is developed to read a large amount of feeds fast.
To feel the conveniences of "Fastladder", subscribe about 300-1,000 feeds by the following ways.

I. Import the data from other services.
If you have already used other services, you can easily import the data by OPML subscription list. The follwing pages describes the detailed explanation.

(2)Google Reader

II. Subscribe the Top-Rated feed
Fastladderには登録数ランキングがなさそうなので、割愛。

III. Subscribe the recommended feeds
Fastladderにはおすすめフィードが（以下略


5.Set the sharing subscriptions

After subscribing the feeds, set the sharing subscriptions enable.
If you don't want some feeds to be known to others, you can set each feed's sharing subscription disable individually.
If sharing subscriptions is enable, "User information page" is created.
Share the "Subscriptions recently" with friend or colleague each other, you can share the informations more efficiently.


6.Basic keyboard shortcut

Before reading your subscribed feeds, you should learn the basic keyboard shortcut.

  • Next feed:s
  • Previous feed:a
  • Next item:j
  • Previous item:k

Type these keys, you can do correspond actions.
Using keyboard shortcut, you can read fast twice as using mouse.

日本語入力の話は割愛。

Of course you can use mouse.
But only when using keyboard shortcut, "Pre-read the feeds" is enabled and you can feel extreme speed. Keyboard shortcut is not only to simplify the operation, so please try it.
"Pre-read the feeds" is a function that loads the feeds previously and be able to draw faster.

日本語入力のオン/オフがないのであれば、書きっぷりが大分違ってくるのかも。
英語環境で使った事がないので、よーわからん。

If you forget the keyboard shortcuts, you can see the lists by typing "Shift + /"(or "?")


7.Set the "Rating"

You can set the "Rating" at each feed you subscribed.
"Rating" is the method can classify the feeds by the importance.
"Folder" classifies them by the categories.
When a large amount of feeds are classified by the categories, sometimes you might forget to read some important informations.
But, if they are classified by the importance, you don't forget to read the important informations even if you are busy.

To set the "Rating", refer the following.

  • ★★★★★　The feeds must be checked at any time.
  • ★★★★☆　must be checked once a day at least.
  • ★★★☆☆　should be checked once a couple days
  • ★★☆☆☆　should be checked about once a week.
  • ★☆☆☆☆　should be checked sometimes.
  • ☆☆☆☆☆　no reasons to delete the feeds.

The "Rating" is set to every feeds.
Select the feed top of "My Feeds", the stars related to the "Rating" are displayed at the right of the screen.
So, set the "Rating" of the feed in according with above categories.
After setting the "Rating" of a feed, type the shortcut key"s" to move to another feed and set the "Rating" and set the "Rating" to all feeds you subscribed.
(If there are needless feeds, you can delete them to type "Delete" key.)
At first, it may take time because of the number of the feeds.
But for the future, you should set the "Rating" to all feeds you subscribed.


8.Set the "My Feeds"

At "My Feeds", which is the left side of "Fastladder", you can easily change the display style of the feeds list.
Set the menus as follows.

  • Rating
  • New
  • Show only update feeds:enabled

It is most important to set "Show only update feeds" as "enabled".
If it is "disabled", it wastes much time. You should set it "enabled".


9.Set the "Pin"

(Click the "Settings" at the right top of the screen. then, Select the "Pin"tab.)

今日はここまで。というか、これ以上続けるか、かなり疑問。
つか、最初からエキサイト翻訳にでもかければよかったかもしんない。単純機械翻訳よりはマシだと思うが、自信ない。　orz

なによりもまず、「はてな記法」というやつを覚えないとダメかもしんない。
リンクを張った時の色が見やすかったり見づらかったり、タイトルが明朝体だったり、云々。


ただ、折角やった事を無駄にしない為にも、無謀にもトラックバックというものをやってみることにした。
思い切った事をしたもんだと、自分でも思います。
